Nonfiction: The Hand and the Brain

My nonfiction publication about the neuroscience of handedness, “The Hands and the Brain: Complementary Dominance” is out in the March 2026 issue of Clarkesworld Magazine! It’s a non-fiction science article for readers of all levels and backgrounds, stuffed full of links in case you reader want to pursue the science more deeply.

Handedness seems utterly banal, but the science beneath it is weird and complex, with a throughline tying modern culture to pre-human evolution. (Not to mention the last 5-10 years of my scientific career.)

To quote myself:

To understand handedness, you need to understand the entire brain.
